Vancouver Marathon – founding AIMS Member

AIMS: Association of International Marathons

The Association of International Marathons (AIMS) is a member-based organization that is involved with over 400 of the world’s leading races, and present in over 120 countries.

The non-profit Vancouver International Marathon Society, organizers of the BMO Vancouver Marathon annually on the first weekend of May, have been supporters of the AIMS since its inception and is a proud founding member.

Originally established with the intention of creating a forum for the directors of large-scale marathons, AIMS has since grown to govern world-class distance running events, and provide a platform of support and networking for the distance running community.

As a proud founding member of AIMS, the non-profit Vancouver International Marathon Society seeks to follow and fulfill the association’s objectives.

AIMS objectives are:

  • to foster and promote distance running throughout the world.
  • to work with the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) on all matters relating to international road races.
  • to exchange information, knowledge and expertise among members of the association
