Vancouver, BC – April 10, 2015 – This year’s BMO Vancouver Marathon features the largest number of entertainment stations in the event’s history with a total of 32 groups set to play, perform, entertain and motivate on Sunday, May 3rd.

From Jazz, Folk, Hip hop, African, Celtic, Bluegrass, and drummers to high energy Samba and Rock & Roll music, BMO Vancouver Marathon runners will be treated to a unique experience on their running journey. Runners can expect to see 20 groups on the Marathon, 11 on the Half Marathon course, 4 on the 8KM and 2 DJs at the Finish Line.

Singer/songwriter, Barbara Sorenson travels from Chicago to perform on May 3rd, other entertainment highlights include local bands: Freedom95, Creole Jazz Band, Studiocloud30, Persons of Interest, Bloco Energia, and both Virgin Radio and TSN Radio station.

“Freedom95 loves playing for all the runners and walkers who take part in BMO Vancouver Marathon – everyone is pumped and ready to rock,” says Don Doyle, lead guitarist in Freedom95, one of the bands that regularly peforms on course. “It’s great to see participants clap their hands, give a fist pump or have that boost of energy as they pass by us on race day.”

With 32 groups on course, motivating runners to a downtown finish in the heart of the city, participants are then able to reconnect with friends and family at the Street Festival located on West Hastings following the race.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer such a large and unique collection of music and entertainment,” says Charlene Krepiakevich, Executive Director of the Vancouver International Marathon Society. “Completing a Marathon, Relay, Half or 8KM is no easy task and with this increased motivation from entertainers as well as spectators, runners are sure to be inspired every step of the way.”

Spectators and fans are also encouraged to come up with their own cheers and entertainment on race day with $7,500 in cash prizes up for grabs through the new Neighbourhood Challenge presented by Chevron.

The BMO Vancouver Marathon on May 3, 2015, features four separate race distances with the Marathon, new Marathon Relay, Half Marathon and 8KM race routes, in addition to a Kids Fun Run. Sign up at bmovanmarathon.ca
