BMO Vancouver Marathon to host BC Half Marathon Championships on May 1, 2016

BC’s best Half Marathoners vye for Championship Status

The fast 21.1KM Half Marathon at the BMO Vancouver Marathon was selected by BC Athletics as one of British Columbia’s best road races and will now play host to the BC Half Marathon Championships on May 1, 2016.

Eligibility Requirements for the BC Championships

The BC Championships are open to all Junior (age 9-13), Senior (age 20+), Masters (age 35+) and Road & Trail members of BC Athletics. To become a member of BC Athletics, please visit bcathletics.org/membership.

Awards for the BC Championships

Overall Winners

BC Athletics will present Championship Medals and Prize Money of $200, $100 and $50 to the first 3 eligible finishers, men and women, overall – based on gun-time.**

Age Category Winners

BC Athletics will also present Championship Ribbons to the first 3 eligible finishers, men and women, in each age category: 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, … 100+ – based on chip-time.*

Elite Athletes

**Elite Athletes will be competing for not only BC Championship prizing, but also Elite Prizing Overall, plus bonus cash prizing for Top Canadian Athletes, Top BC Athletes, Masters 40+, and Course Records – presented by event organizers. 1:02:36 and 1:12:53 are the Half Marathon course records males and females will be respectively chasing, while 2:18:37 and 2:37:00 are the Marathon times males and females are trying to better on Vancouver’s only marathon course. The Marathon is capped at 5,000 total runners and the Half Marathon at 10,000.
