Run Sunset Beach

Just west of the Burrard Street Bridge, Sunset Beach is a hidden gem close to Vancouver’s West End and downtown core. Much like the name suggests, this less populated beach is an excellent spot for catching a stunning Vancouver sunset. The concession stand offers delicious treats and refreshments that would be a perfect addition to a picnic set up on the grassy area behind the beach.  There are also beach volleyball courts that usually have some kind of game, practice, or lesson taking place.

The beach is steps away from the Vancouver Aquatic Centre and the False Creek Ferry pier.  Founded in 1981 with a small fleet of four white-and-blue ferries, the False Creek Ferries have grown in popularity and size.  Providing a quick trip across False Creek to the well-loved Granville Island, it is a service that many locals and tourists take advantage of throughout the year.

The BMO Vancouver Marathon runners will exit the Burrard Street Bridge and run along Beach Ave which parallels Sunset Beach to see it in all it’s glory.
