VANCOUVER, BC — Vancouver marathon and half marathon participants and spectators are encouraged to use the Canada Line via Oakridge/41st Station to make it to the start line in Queen Elizabeth Park on Midlothian Avenue near Hillcrest Community Centre.

The Canada Line will operate its normal Sunday schedule. The first train from Waterfront Station is at 4:48 a.m. and from Richmond Brighouse at 5:02 a.m.

To prevent line-ups before the event, portable fare boxes will be set up at Waterfront, Vancouver City-Centre and Yaletown-Roundhouse Canada Line stations.

Marathon and half marathon participants and spectators are reminded that SkyTrain’s Expo and Millennium Lines, West Vancouver Blue Bus and SeaBus will operate their regular Sunday service. There is no Sunday service on the West Coast Express.

Coast Mountain Bus will provide regular Sunday service and will modify their routes at certain times during the day to accommodate the marathon. The following routes are affected: 2, 9, 15, 17, 19, 22, 25, 33, 41, 49, 99, 160, 210, 211, 240, 246, C18, C19, C20, C21, and C23. Check tripplanning.translink.ca for details.

To accommodate eligible participants without access to early-morning transit, Translink, in partnership with the Vancouver International Marathon Society, is offering a free shuttle service on race day from Scott Road Station, Lonsdale Quay, Brentwood Mall and Patterson Station to the start line. Space is limited, and is booked on a first come first serve basis. More details can be found on the BMO Marathon website (http://www.bmovanmarathon.ca).

For cyclists, TravelSmart is sponsoring BEST’s Bicycle Valet, which will offer secure temporary bike storage for up to 120 bikes, free of charge. The valet will be open from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Bute Street, between Hastings and Cordova.

Reminder for participants or spectators travelling to or from the Main Street-Science World Station, the Train2Main will be in operation. See www.translink.ca/ontrack for more details.
