Vancouver, BC – February 14, 2014

The Marathon/Half Marathon Start Line (2014)

Imagine you are at the Marathon and Half Marathon Start Line in Queen Elizabeth Park, home to sprawling botanical gardens and known as one of the highest viewpoints in Vancouver. You hear music playing from speakers and the excited chatter of runners beside you in your corral. You smell the rich scent of cherry blossoms, freshly cut grass, and a twinge of salt in the air. It’s springtime in Vancouver. It’s race day, and you’ve attached your bib, retied your laces, and pre-arranged to meet your family at the Street Festival downtown. Five minutes to go, and you’re ready!

How do I get to the Start Line?

As there will be extensive road closures on race day contributing to increased levels of traffic, we encourage you to take public transit to the Start Line. If you prefer to be dropped off, we recommend Main Street/East 30th Avenue as a drop-off location. By public transit Use your FREE transit ticket (available at the Expo) to take the Canada Line to the Start Line. Marathon runners get off at Oakridge/41st Station and walk north on Cambie Street to 37th Avenue. Turn left and continue along the perimeter of the park. Make a left on Ontario Street and continue until you reach the corrals on Midlothian Avenue. If you are a Marathon runner do not get off at King Edward Station. It will be difficult to cross King Edward Avenue while the Half Marathon is underway.
