Vancouver, BC – April 14, 2016
The excitement of Race Day this year will be bigger and better than ever, with 34 entertainment stations motivating runners along all BMO Vancouver Marathon courses on May 1, 2016. Runners, spectators, volunteers, and everyone involved in the race will get into the spirit of the BMO Vancouver Marathon with the high-energy performances.
Whether runners choose to push their limits with the Marathon or Half Marathon, split up the course with a Relay Team, or take in the scenic views of Stanley Park with the 8KM run, these 34 entertainment stations will help runners reach the Finish Line.
The entertainment groups performing at the 2016 BMO Vancouver Marathon are talented and diverse. Some of the highlights of this year’s musical lineup include Top Line Vocal Collective, a one-of-a-kind choral group, BlocoEnergia, a high-energy group of drummers with a passion for Brazilian music, and Coldwater Road, Vancouver-based folk band. These performances and many more groups will motivate runners on Race Day.
The bands will add to the overall atmosphere of the BMO Vancouver Marathon, and spectators are encouraged to join in on the fun! With prizes being offered for best group costume and best cheer/dance routine, you’ll want to make sure you’re there with your loudest cheers and best dance moves to show your race day spirit.
For spectators, supporters and locals, cash prizes are being offered. A #RunVanFan campaign will be launched to encourage the loudest cheers, the best photos, shares, and demonstrated Vancouver spirit.
Excitement at the Finish Line starts early with the Elite Athletes beginning to cross the Finish Line at8:00am right through to 11:30am. The Street Festival parallel to the Finish Line on West Hastings Street between Bute and Burrard will wrap up race day with even more celebrations, music, and fun.
“We are ecstatic that 34 amazing bands will be out on course to motivate our runners.” says Charlene Krepiakevich, Executive Director of the non-profit Vancouver International Marathon Society, organizers of the event. “Everyone is encouraged to come out, cheer on the thousands of runners, and enjoy the incredible energy on race day!”
