View this post on Instagram Oh what a day! After the London Marathon in 2016 I took a step back from running and retired from high level athletics, my fastest races had been run and I was content to move on. I knew that running would remain a part of my life, but I wasn’t really sure in which form it would take and how involved I would be. @dylanwykes and I started doing @mile2marathon Wednesday night group workouts that spring, and since then my love for the sport has only grown. I still do what I gotta do to remain somewhat fit, but these days my greatest joys in the sport come from coaching a great group of athletes, helping grow Mile2Marathon and just simply being involved in this wonderful community. What we have going on in Vancouver right now is truly special. Yesterday was a celebration for running in this city, kudos to @bmovanmarathon for putting on a world class event, it was so uplifting to see all the different crews and training groups coming together to be a part of it. From the racers, the volunteers and to the amazing cheer squads it was a damn fine day. ? @tmax_16 A post shared by Rob Watson (@rwatson26point2) on May 6, 2019 at 9:48am PDT

View this post on Instagram I DID IT!!! ??♀️? I ran my first marathon – 42.2km in 4h24m as a charity runner for the Canadian Mental Health Association. This run was dedicated to my little sister @beckydianamarko who lives with depression. ⠀ I can't thank everyone enough for all the support I've received over the past eight months. Thank you thank you thank you! Knowing that my friends and family were tracking me live online really made me feel like everyone was running with me. The best part is you helped me raise $1605 for CMHA, an organization dedicated to helping people access the community resources they need to build resilience and support recovery from mental illness. That’s amazing. ?? I appreciate it all so much – what an incredible life experience! A post shared by Sarah Marko (@sarah.marko) on May 6, 2019 at 11:55am PDT

View this post on Instagram Well, I did it! My first half marathon.. and under two hours! Training for this has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done, both physically and mentally. Ten years ago at 250lbs and not living a healthy lifestyle whatsoever, this was not even close to a foreseeable achievement. But running not only helped me stay active, it challenged my discipline and helped me so much mentally. I’m so happy I made the choice to see this through to the end. A huge thank you to all my friends and family who not only supported me the last 5 months, but who also put up with my all my whining, complaining and running talk. Definitely forever grateful to be surrounded by such amazing people! If I can do this and crush my goal, anyone can! ♥️??♀️ . . . . #running #bmohalfmarathon #train #yvr #vancouver #stanleypark #dedication #cantstopwontstop #support #dying #ididit #potd A post shared by Jennifer Pitcher (@jenntherockjohnson) on May 5, 2019 at 10:54am PDT

View this post on Instagram Lots of race reflection this week. Some positive and negative takeaways. Let’s start with the good. To be honest I’ve struggled finding many positives in this one: ?♀️I strung together ~8 miles at or below 6min/mile pace. Something I’ve never come close to. In fact as recently as a few months ago I never would’ve even attempted running a 10k at that pace. — ?♀️ I had thoughts of throwing in the towel a few times and just shuffling to the finish. But I didn’t. I rallied to pull off a PR. That’s the tough part about big goals. When you realize they’re out of reach it can be mentally tough to stay on board. One of my miles was around 6:30. When I saw that number flash on my watch I was so discouraged. But I kept going and pulled off a few 6:10 miles after that. – — Official time 1:21:46- – #runvan #bmovm #bmovanmarathon #bmovancouvermarathon #bmovancouver #halfmarathon #halfmarathoner #race #pb #run #runnersworld #womenrunning #womensrunningcommunity #nikerunclub #runner #running #runningcommunity #runstagram #motherrunner #momswhorun #canadianrunning #canadianrunner #yycfitmom #yycfitness #yvrfitness A post shared by Polly Moody (@mommytosubthree) on May 8, 2019 at 6:08am PDT

View this post on Instagram Inspire yourself to run more by racing! I highly recommend signing up for one, even if you haven't really trained. Here's why: . Last weekend I did my first race since last August, the BMO 8k road race. Not gonna lie, I was not feeling like racing that morning, not after 3 days and 20 hrs of standing on concrete under florescent lights vending at the expo. Am I really about to race? My feet hurt, I'm exhausted and I haven't run further than 4k in months! . So glad I did. As soon as the race started all my negative nancy thoughts evaporated and I was in 'how do I rock this race' mode? Races have a way of bringing out the best in a runner! This one in particular helped me realize why I haven't been as motivated to run this year; I didn't pre-register for a bunch of races like I did last year. . Having a ton of races lined up really kept me inspired, each one firing me up for the next. It was like being a kid and looking forward to the next holiday, anticipating even more presents, candy or a better costume! (Tip: dressup races are really fun!) . So why do I race? To feel like a winner! To support my fellow racers, to conquer the negative voices in my head, to surprise myself by the results. When I cross that finish line, no matter what happens getting there and 5th or 500th place, I always feel like a winner? . Yes, even the time I placed 2nd to last. I didn't quit, that was a big win! . Want to run with me? Meet me at the Squamish Adventure Center every Monday at 4:15pm for an all levels welcome 30 minute walk/run/optional sprint interval workout. That's tomorrow, so go set your gear out and I'll see you soon! . P.s. checkout how stoked the dude running behind me is? . #bmovm #bmo8k #8k #thisiswhyirun #runlove #love2run #runher #motherrunner #rungirlrun #runminder #runningrace #runningpants #runthiscity #runvancouver #runvan #runforyourself #runbrand #bewildher #run #running #canadianrunning #womensrunning A post shared by BEWILDHER – BE in YOUr element (@bewildher) on May 12, 2019 at 10:24pm PDT
