Forbes ranks the BMO Vancouver Marathon as one of the “Top 10 Marathons Worth Travelling For”

Vancouver, BC – January, 31 2012 – The allure of running through 11 Vancouver neighbourhoods adorned with the colours of spring, along the city shoreline and beaches, through Stanley Park and on the nearly 100 year old famous seawall, has attracted international media attention.

Last week, Forbes recognized the BMO Vancouver Marathon among their top 10 marathons worth travelling for. In their travel guide, Forbes describes the BMO Vancouver Marathon as a world class travel destination, along with a world class event. The addition of the new courses also caught the attention of the largest media brand on the planet, “Vancouver debuts a new course this year—it’s now a point‐to‐point race that will take more advantage of the scenic city sites including its unique neighbourhoods, world‐class parks and its expansive seawall,” Forbes describes.

With a few months to go, registration has already surpassed the 80% mark for the marathon and over 55% for the half marathon. “The added recognition from one of the worlds’ most trusted media outlets is sure to boost global recognition and awareness for our event,” adds Charlene Krepiakevich, Executive Director of the Vancouver International Marathon Society, the non‐profit organization responsible for the BMO Vancouver Marathon.

“The word is out! Vancouver is a superb host city and now the BMO Vancouver Marathon is positioned to be THE Canadian flagship event ranked amongst the world’s best,” she added.
