This year’s event features nearly 35 charities, including gold-level members from ALS Society of BC, BC Cancer Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, Dixon Transition Society, Employ to Empower, Heart and Stroke Foundation BC/Yukon, Kids Help Phone, Surrey Food Bank, YMCA BC.
There’s so many inspiring stories to celebrate on race day!
Inspirational stories of the 2026 BMO Vancouver Marathon include the below:
- Bree Gallagher racing the Marathon again, in memory of mother who passed from brain cancer
- Angie Seeber, raising money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, in honour of her mother and sister. Read Angie’s story
- Sarah Arboleda, raising funds for Canuck Place, who has supported her child
- Glen Schaefer, 68, racing again as a two‑time cancer survivor, throat and lung
- Carter Anderson, 20, from Victoria, BC, chases a third marathon supporting Down Syndrome Resource Foundation
- Yul Kwon who ran his first Marathon at 68 and is taking on the Half again now at age 90 for the BC Cancer Foundation 💥 Read about Yul
And many more stories. Nearly $200,000 has been raised by runners this year and you may still donate.
Charities will also line the course with volunteers, and are part of the fabric of Vancouver’s only Marathon.
