Everyone can be involved in the BMO Vancouver Marathon, whether by running, volunteering, or cheering. The friends and family who come out to support our runners are a big part of the event, which is why the Vancouver International Marathon Society encourages fans to join in on the action and excitement of race day.
“Not only do raving fans add an exciting race atmosphere, they also show Vancouver’s pride in our communities,” says Charlene Krepiakevich, Executive Director of the non-profit Vancouver International Marathon Society, organizers of the event. “All great cities of the world have great marathon weekends supported by host communities, and Vancouver is no different.”
So, we’re asking you to send us inspirational and motivational quotes. Whether they are words that put a smile on your face, or give you the determination to achieve your goals, we want to hear it!
To submit your motivational quotes to be considered for selection, post them online and tag us @bmovanmarathon using hashtags #RUNVAN and #bmovm. Winning quotes will be selected by the Vancouver International Marathon Society staff on March 4, and given to volunteers on race day.
We also encourage Vancouverites to create their own motivational signs to show their race day spirit, and be eligible to cheer and win in the Neighbourhood Challenge presented by Chevron. Prizes will be awarded for best cheer, best dance routine, best team costumes, and more! To keep the energy going, the 2016 BMO Vancouver Marathon will also feature 34 entertainment stations on-course, the largest number of live entertainment groups in the event’s history.
The excitement doesn’t stop at the Finish Line, either. Our runners and supporters can continue their celebrations at the Street Festival, located on West Hastings Street between Bute and Burrard Street. Featuring entertainment, a Kids Zone and food sampling, the Finish Line Street Festival is the perfect place to celebrate the accomplishments of race day.
