Canada’s most scenic destination race, the BMO Vancouver Marathon is now over 90% sold-out and is pacing to have one of its best registration years ever, increasing event capacity through various races including a fun Marathon Relay and Half Marathon.
“We’re honoured runners from around the world choose the BMO Vancouver Marathon as one of their bucket-list Marathons,” adds Eric Chéné, RUNVAN® Race Director. “It’s also amazing to see the community come together and connect around this legacy event.”
This year’s event could actually break the all-time registration year set two years ago, as the 8KM now annually sells out and more corporate teams get involved in the Relay, which breaks the Marathon distance into four sections. There’s also a fast Half Marathon.
Vancouver’s only Marathon, which dates back to 1972 when 32 runners completed five laps of Stanley Park, surpassed other milestone marks recently – welcoming runners from 50+ countries in 2015, 2016, and attracting runners from a record 65 countries last year.
The event draws well from the Pacific Northwest and Pacific Rim, and has seen explosive growth recently from Mexico. Non-profit organizers, RUNVAN® have further teamed up with StayVancouverHotels.com to offer visitors hotel specials in May.

Wholly organized by the non-profit Vancouver International Marathon Society RUNVAN®, this Marathon event is possible with the support of nearly 4,000 volunteers annually.
