More Music and Entertainment added to Stanley Park for BMO Vancouver Marathon Race Weekend
Stanley Park to feature an additional four music stations this year; Now over 35 entertainment total groups on race course
You asked for more entertainment, and BMO Vancouver Marathon event organizers listened! While beautiful, the Stanley Park Seawall can be a long stretch for runners, so this year event organizers have added more music and entertainment inside Stanley Park on race day to promise for an exciting last leg!
“Runners will be energized from Start to Finish,” says Graeme White, Executive Director of the non-profit Vancouver International Marathon Society, who has made extra effort to infuse this year’s race with extra delighters.
An additional four music stations will perform in Stanley Park, bringing the total in that section to 15 – split between Marathon, Half Marathon, 8KM and Relay. Energized water stations, volunteers, and cheering spectators, will join these entertainment groups in cheering thousands of runners right through the Finish Line.
In total, event organizers, the local non-profit Vancouver International Marathon Society will feature over 35 entertainment stations from bands and musicians, to celebrity impersonators. Five entertainment groups will be along the 8KM course, with nearly 15 entertainment groups on the Half Marathon course, and 25 on the scenic Marathon route. Bands include R&B/rock band Taboo Queen and classic rock band Valleyfyre.
In addition, four new Community Cheer Stations will be set up in the Chinatown, Coal Harbour / West End, Kitsilano and Yaletown neighbourhoods to cheer runners on. The Vancouver International Marathon Society is also adding new entertainment value to this year’s free three-day Health, Sports & Lifestyle Expo, and will continue its Community Cheer Challenge presented by Chevron that gives fans the opportunity to Cheer & Win!
