The annual BMO Vancouver Marathon broke records before it even began on Sunday. With 17,000 runners signed up, this year’s event was the highest attended since it started 46 years ago.

Robin Watson led a Canadian sweep of the top five spots in the BMO Vancouver Marathon on Sunday, winning the event for the first time in two hours, 27 minutes and 38 seconds. Watson, who won the half marathon title at the 2015 BMO Vancouver Marathon, is originally from London, Ont., but now calls Vancouver home.
