For the third consecutive year, event organizers will welcome runners from more than 50 countries, and likely all 50 American States
Vancouver, BC – January 27, 2017 –
Known world-wide for its stunning scenery, the BMO Vancouver Marathon has now registered runners from more than 50 countries for the third-consecutive year, and event organizers hope to welcome runners from all 50 American States on race day May 7, 2017.
“The BMO Vancouver Marathon is truly a world-class event and we’re honoured that runners from all over the globe travel to run our Marathon and Half Marathon courses,” says Graeme White, Executive Director. “We’re proud to be moving towards our vision, to be the World’s best running experience, celebrating all that is Vancouver.”
Just four States shy of welcoming runners from all 50 American States last year, the event is still looking for runners in Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Delaware, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and Wyoming, to complete the sweep of the States.
With the low Canadian dollar, and it being Canada’s 150th birthday, organizers believe this is going to be another banner year after welcoming a record-setting number of registrants last year at nearly 16,500. The local non-profit hopes to hit the 17,000 mark this year.
“There’s so many reasons to travel here this Spring to experience all that BC has to offer, and we invite all nationalities to experience ‘Stunning Running’ on Canada’s Westcoast,” concludes White. “Come see why we’re ranked one of the world’s best.”
The event’s largest markets predictably come from the Pacific Northwest in BC, Alberta, Washington, California, and Oregon, plus the Pacific Rim with large contingent of runners from Japan and China. Other hot markets for the race include Mexico, Germany and the UK.
With incredible views of shorelines, snow-capped mountains, and natural scenery, the BMO Vancouver Marathon is continually ranked as one of the world’s top destination races by the likes of Forbes, CNN, USA Today, and others.
Take a peak at stunning shots of the race that includes scenic stretches along Vancouver’s Seawall – the world’s longest uninterrupted waterfront path.
