Mental wellness is crucial for overall health and well-being. Whether someone is coping with a mental illness, supporting a loved one, or striving to enhance their own wellness, Canadian Mental Health Association, Vancouver-Fraser assists in developing mental health skills and resilience for individuals and families. We are dedicated to educating the community about mental health inclusion, raising awareness about the importance of early prevention and intervention, and promoting habits and behaviours that foster positive mental health and strong social support networks.
We offer a range of programs to achieve these goals, such as:
- the ECHO Clubhouse, which provides a secure community for individuals with lived experiences of mental health and substance use;
- Individual Placement and Support program, which provides rehabilitation services for individuals with mental illnesses, enabling them to obtain and maintain competitive employment;
- Heer4Peers involves high school students creating safe spaces for mental health literacy among elementary school children;
- BounceBack® is designed to assist adults and youth aged 13 and older in managing their low mood, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, stress, or worry.
Our programs are designed to cater to various age groups and life stages, ensuring that everyone has access to the support they need.
Through the pandemic, we have also helped seniors like Sinila connect and be resilient through our Wellness Programs.
“With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Chinese Program created a WhatsApp group named ‘CMHA Happy Base Camp’ to run a Talent Expo project that encouraged us to submit creative homework. Also, we can share our feelings and support in the group without pressure. Although we are stuck at home due to the pandemic, we don’t have to feel lonely, depressed, anxious and negative. We can also share our joy with our CMHA-VF Chinese Program friends while keeping our body and mind healthy. The merits are immeasurable! Although I’m a senior who lives alone, I can still live a good life!”
