Legacy Talks with Don Basham

Vancouver, BC – March 7, 2016

Celebrating the 45th year of Vancouver’s only marathon, the ‘Legacy Talks’ video series interviews those who have played key roles in helping grow the event from its early beginnings.

“That very first year we only had 32 participants in the event, two of which were women… Over the course of the seven years that we ran this course in Stanley Park, we were up to well over 700 (runners) when we finally decided to move the event out of the Park.” – Don Basham

“It was exciting to see the increasing number of ladies that participated over the years, particularly the initial years, given that in a lot of parts of the world, ladies were not allowed to run the marathon at all… We never took that attitude here luckily.”
